Sorry sir, you now need a master cylinder...

When manually bleeding brakes on an older vehicle, do not allow the pedal to go to the floor.

Why? Because you will be pushing the master cylinder piston cups deeper into the unused portion of the master cylinder bore.

This area could be corroded and if it is, will damage the piston cups and the master cylinder will now have to be replaced.

Since this has happened to me a couple of times, I now attach a pressure bleeder to do most of all my bleeding.

I usually can’t find an extra body to help when I need him anyway.
